Pacifica is a charming destination brimming with great surf, mile high hiking and biking trails as well as authentic, locally inspired dining options.
And now, in large part due to the COVID pandemic, Pacifica is popping with several new Pop-Up food entrepreneurs.
Pop-up restaurants are rising in popularity as people look for alternatives to the regular restaurants they usually frequent. Several years ago, there was a huge increase in food trucks and now pop-up restaurants are following along the same path as they become increasingly popular. Pop up restaurants are literally restaurants that just pop up. They show up for as little as a few hours or can stay in one place for weeks. They can appear anywhere but are often in unique locations. So, whether it’s curry cart in an old aircraft hangar or a pie in someone else’s home, pop up restaurants are a real thing and consumers are gravitating in fast fashion.
Here’s what’s going on NOW in Pacifica…
Craftsman Coffee serves espresso drinks out of a vintage 1961 Citroën H van parked at the Sea Bowl parking lot on Highway 1, with ocean views across the street. Owners Kirk and Judy Hayes started roasting coffee in their Pacifica home several years ago and eventually graduated to the Coastside Farmers’ Market before embarking on the dream of a vintage coffee truck, which took two years to upgrade and ship from the United Kingdom to California.
The van opened at the Sea Bowl parking lot in November of 2020. In addition to small batch coffee, Craftsman makes a cacoco mocha, golden milk, chai tea and honey tea latte.
They also offer freshly roasted beans sourced from farms around the world and instant coffee made from a crystallized blend of Brazil and Kenya roasted coffee.
Their unique vintage coffee truck is open for business Wednesday through Friday from 7:30am to Noon at 4625 Coast Hwy 1 in the Sea Bowl parking lot.

The San Francisco cookie pop-up Sunflour recently relocated to Pacifica, so locals now have access to Julie Tayag’s home-baked creations, like ube-filled coconut cookies and brown-butter hazelnut chocolate chip cookies.
Tayag bakes cookies on evenings and weekends on the side of her full-time job at Genentech and started selling them on Instagram during the pandemic last year. A self-taught baker who loves recreating cookie nostalgia, her flavors range from fruity cereal milk, (fruity cereal cookie dough filled with Valrhona ivoire and topped with crushed rainbow cereal), to classic chocolate chip.
She also sells frozen cookie dough so you can bake at home as you please.

SMALL BATCH JAM COMPANY:
Making their home base in Pacifica, Small Batch Jam Company produces handmade and all-natural jams sourced from farmers markets, fresh fruit stands and hardworking growers.
The adventure began over six years ago with an accidental order of 50 pounds of frozen black berries. Then, the search was on to craft a product, thus the beginning of Small Batch Jams.
The company offers single flavored jams as well as a wide selection of combination flavors, some created by customer requests. Examples include raspberry jalapeño and apricot lavender. In addition, they also offer marmalades, fruit butters, sample packs, a reserve collection and an artist collection.
Small Batch Jams can be ordered via their website and at local Pacifica small businesses such as A Grape in the Fog, Intertwine Cafe and Lovey’s Tea Shoppe. Follow them on Instagram at: @smallbatchjamco and to find more varieties, visit their website at smallbatchjamco.com.
There is free shipping on orders over $75 with discount code, FREESHIP. They also do custom orders and bulk orders.
